| What an incredible
weekend, 32 Junior Rugby teams gathered to Southport from the edges of Britain and
Ireland to come together for what was a great display of rugby. And unbelievable for
Southport the weather came out perfectly to show our visiting teams what an excellent
place Southport is.
Our under 9's (pictured above) did SRUFC proud
and played with such enthusiasm and with such enjoyment it puts some of the other teams to
shame. Saturday saw the first of their matches against Cranbook, and even though they
defended well Cranbook managed to make 4 try's with Southport's only try of the match
coming towards the end. Later that afternoon Southport were up against Hinckley and even I
would say I would be loathed to go up against this team, for under 9's they had some of
the biggest lads I have seen. Nether the less our boys went in and played with great
spirit and the closing score of 6-0 to Hinckley was something our lads should have been
proud to come away with. |
